INGREDIENTS to serve 1 person :-

vegetable oil

1 egg at room temperature


Lightly oil a teacup or ramekin dish.

Break the room temperature egg into the teacup or ramekin dish.

With a fine needle, pierce the yolk, to prevent it exploding from the heat of the microwave.

Cover with cling film, and pierce this too.

Microwave on medium power for about 1 minute.

You may need to adapt this time according to your microwave oven power.

If the white has become opaque, remove and leave for 20 seconds before eating.

Otherwise, give it another few seconds in the microwave.

Make a note of how long your microwave takes to produce a perfect poached egg.
